University of Washington Bothell Managment of Information Systems

The MIS concentration provides students with the technical and business skills that can be immediately applied to solve business problems. Students learn to analyze and design effective information systems, successfully manage software projects, and maximize the online customer experience. Requirements were developed in collaboration with Computing and Software Systems faculty with suggestions by an industry advisory board. Courses are in both Business and Computing and Software Systems (CSS).

BBUS 330 Information Management & Analysis
Gained the fundamentals of Enterprise IT Management. Includes the basic terminology of technology, but also how then do we move into technology management and strategy.

BBUS 479 Enterprise Analysis and Design
Focused on implementing and approaching enterprise wide applications for companies. Utilized Salesforce.com and interacted with a real world client.

BBUS 489 Digital Business Lab (capstone course)
Provides a broad understanding of the impact of information technology on the corporation. Specific focus on ebusiness and electronic commerce. Created report on the latest open source browser, Firefox.

CSS 341 Fundamentals of Programming Theory & Applications
Focused on problem solving design and practice. Used VBscript and interfaced with office applications to solve simple business related problems.

CSS 360 Software Engineering
Fundamentals of Software Engineering. Using SWEBOK covered all the areas important to building applications to meet and solve a business need.

CSS 490 Entrepeneur's Workshop
Developed a solid business plan while also building strengths around how to pitch and sell the idea. Presentation and selling skills.
